About Autop v5.3 Dynamic Grid EA
Autop is a free, community-developed MetaTrader 4 robot from the long-running ForexFactory thread "Autop Dynamic Grid EA — Enhanced version of Auto-Profit 3.0" (started 2016, developer Edorenta). It is a dynamic grid/martingale system: take-profit is calculated from ATR and Hi/Lo weights, the distance between orders scales with the target (Step ×1.4 by default), lot size multiplies by 1.4 per grid level, up to 30 trades, with a total equity stop (default 15%) as the last line of defence. Later versions added an ADX/ADXMA-based trend filter, a news filter, trading-time filters and an on-chart HUD — v5.3 was the final public build, released with a small-font interface fix.
Honest caveat: this is a martingale grid, and the thread itself documents "death sequence" blow-ups when price trends without retracing — members repeatedly warn that anything above roughly 0.01 lots per $10k has little chance of long-term survival. The EA also needs the companion ADX+ADXMA indicator in the Indicators folder or it will not trade. The thread has years of real member backtests and live-demo reports (some users ran v5.3 profitably on small $500 accounts), which makes it far better documented than most shared robots — but the risk profile is still that of a grid martingale.
